Sodalite & Syenite 'Emberlite/Yooperlite' Sphinx Cat Carving - 178g

These cats are lovely wee things and have really good UV reaction. Each has nice detail with cute, peaky faces, big batty ears and a sweet, curved tail. 

'Yooperlite' is an amazing stone that has some impressive UV reaction, glowing a bright orange under UV light. It is a sodalite-bearing syenite material which is where it gets its glow from and is considered part of the rock family, not mineral. The majority of carvings on the market come from African deposits rather than the American Material that originally has been Trademarked as Yooperlite. While it is commonly referred to in the trade as Yooperlite, unless it originates from the Michigan Penninsula, then it is best referred to as either 'Sodalite-Bearing Syenite' or 'Emberlite'.
