This is a nice heavy display piece with some lovely dark matrix stone coming through behind a really lovely layer of Quartz Chalcedony. This piece does have a cut base so it can sit on display without a stand and also looks great propped up against a corner of a bookshelf or other support of you want a higher profile.
This material is commonly known on the market as Sphalerite but unfortunately that would be a miss-identification. It is actually a form of Brecciated Quartz and Chalcedony, often with a jasper matrix. It can also include other minerals such as calcite and fluorite depending on location. As the crystal formed its growth movements create pockets of druzy which characterises this as a lovely, sparkly kind of material. It is often aura coated but also looks lovely in raw form. Always makes a nice addition to any collection.

It is normal for stones to at times have voids, natural cracking, druzy pockets and a variety of inclusions or host rock.
